At Davison Highley we want to produce the best quality upholstered furniture, so that’s what we do; manufacture superb quality, British designed, contemporary products where clients can sit confident in the knowledge that they have been crafted under the most sustainable and ethical processes.

 

From our Clerkenwell showroom we like to make it easy for clients to work with our knowledgeable design team to find contemporary furniture solutions which seamlessly work with design schemes to delight users. Whether clients select from our extensive standard collection of sofas, chairs, work booths, banquette seating, tables and stools or require a tailored or bespoke option they can be reassured that their products have been created with the utmost care.

 

We’re proud to have of over 40 years of British designing and making furniture experience. And with that pride comes an inherent desire to create quality, sustainable products which our clients can rely upon. We firmly believe true sustainability is an integral part of our design process by utilising efficient manufacturing techniques, sourcing 90% of our materials within 60 miles of our High Wycombe workshop and implementing processes for the systematic recycling of all waste materials. These company wide processes have been recognised through our ISO 14001, FSC® and FISP accreditation –an impressive array of sustainability credentials, which we believe is amongst the strongest within the British furniture manufacturing industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

CAN I HAVE IT ANY SIZE?

 

In a nutshell, YES.
All of the furniture in the Davison Highley collection is offered in a choice of standard sizes. These sizes are arrived at in a considered manner based on such criteria as: correct ergonomics, visual balance, space–planning considerations, efficient and economical manufacture, etc.

However, as we build everything to order, it is possible to “tailor” the design to modify the width or height of the design. Further changes are possible but this takes us into the realms of bespoke pieces. In these cases, we prefer to offer a specific quotation.


Our glass tables are offered in many standard sizes. Special size tables can also be built within the constraints of the design and the materials, a process which may take 4 – 6 weeks longer.

 

 

 

WHAT LEATHERS OR FABRICS ARE AVAILABLE and CAN I USE MY OWN FABRIC?

 

ALMOST ANY!
We price our standard designs in two grades of leather. These are both to CRIB 5 fire test and are hard wearing and easily maintained natural leathers that exhibit considerable natural character.


The choice of upholstery fabrics is almost endless. We offer a choice of standard fabrics found in our fabric band system, but we are happy to upholster our furniture in your own specified fabric, subject to our agreeing its suitability.


Patterned fabrics can be used and work most successfully on flat areas of upholstery . Where a patterned fabric has been selected for a curved chair, the interesting effect that occurs around the inside back of the chair can be demonstrated when we have sight of the chosen pattern.


When specifying your own fabrics, always check with the manufacturer that they are properly UK fire certificated as this is a legal requirement. Fabrics that are not certificated will require interlining or back-coating. Interlining is a significant added expense and back-coating can seriously inhibit the characteristics of a material and in some cases, cause problems with allergic reaction.

 

 

 

DOES IT ALWAYS NEED TO BE FIRE RATED?

 

Yes. All of our furniture meets a minimum fire rating standard of BSEN1021 1&2. This is generally specified as “Cigarette and Match”

 

We advise our clients to specify upholstery finishes appropriate to the area the furniture occupies and for its intended end use.

 

Should furniture be intended for higher risk or high traffic areas, for specific purposes and/or require additional fire-retardancy treatment, please advise us. We can assist in selecting the appropriate upholstery finish.

We offer a factory tour so that you can see our furniture being produced. If you wish to visit our showroom or factory, please contact us beforehand so that we can arrange for the desired item to be on show.

 

 

 

DO YOU  RE-UPHOLSTER?

 

Davison Highley furniture is built to last a lifetime. We will be happy to carry out re-upholstering our own furniture when the time comes for a change of covering.

We will always give you our 100% support in maintaining our products in service.

 

 

 

CAN I HAVE THE FURNITURE DELIVERED?

 

Yes. We have our own delivery vans and staff who will deliver and if required, unwrap and place it in position.

 

 

 

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM ORDER?

 

No. We will make one piece of furniture for you.

 

 

 

HOW CAN I MAKE USE OF YOUR BESPOKE FURNITURE SERVICE?

 

We have a technical sales force that will be happy to visit you to discuss your project or you may send through your own ideas and drawings to our design department which will be pleased to assist you on the application.
